Ice Rescue - Technician

Pre-Requisites: None

The Technician level requires students to demonstrate skills, knowledge, and techniques for hazard recognition, Ice formation, Water Rescue and strength, Cold Water Medical Considerations, equipment use, and procedures necessary to safely and effectively coordinate, perform, and supervise a technical rescue incident in the ice rescue environment.

The technician level focuses on departments that will respond to “GO” rescues in an ice environment. We will focus on the ladder approach to safely extricate a victim, as well as many proven "go" rescue methods.

Students will be given a written, individual proficiency, and practical evaluations.
