When it comes to lakes and still water, side sonar has made significant improvements in searching. However, when it comes to searching in a moving body of water, a recovery drag often succeeds where other methods fail.
The MARSARS recovery drag is durable, effective and portable.
It is made of highly durable stainless steel rod and can be assembled quickly when needed. The kit has a wide sweep and 5 well-spaced hooks to ensure adequate coverage of search area. This recovery drag also comes with a durable storage case which prevents damage to inflatable craft.
Note: When searching from a craft in moving water, always drag into the current, do not run with the current. Should the recovery drag catch on the bottom, you now have an extremely dangerous situation with the force of the moving water at the stern of the captured craft. Avoid this at all costs!
The GHA-6 Man-Overboard Hoisting Adapter is designed to work in conjunction with the RPGB Man-Overboard Rescue Sling to assist with conscious, uninjured victim recovery from above the water.
It is ideal for use in rescues from larger vessels, piers and elevated docks.
The attached 6′ length hoisting adapter’s large opened handles allow vertical hand-over-hand hoisting and comes with attachment hardware.
Ideally suited for inflatable boat-based rescue, the RPGB device is designed for vertical hoisting of conscious, uninjured victim from the water.
The buoyant sling provides 16lbs of lift to a victim, the stay-open loop shape is easily donned and the handle provides an easy to grip location to assist rescuers in lifting the victim from the water and into a small vessel. The unique shape of the sling quickly secures the patient while preventing further injury.
Note: for larger vessels, docks or piers, consider adding the GHA-6 adapter with additional handles to assist with longer lifts.
MARSARS produces a top quality Rescue Recovery Net that connects to vessel’s side by snap hooks, ready for instant use - simply peel the velcro and it rolls out cleanly.
Most recovery nets are made out of buoyant polypropylene fibre that floats, but this Recovery Net is constructed of a ballasted polyester material that sinks. Take it from your fellow public safety folks that found it’s not fun trying to sink a buoyant net beneath a victim in the water.
MARSARS’ high-quality recovery net features:
1) The compact stored device is unrolled
2) The buoyant boom is pushed away from boat’s side by a boat pole.
3) Without handling the victim, the boat is moved forward, positioning the victim centrally above the submerged U-shaped net.
4) Par buckled net lifts the body (using a 2:1 mechanical advantage) clear of the water for transport.
5) After use, the net is removed, cleaned, dried, rolled and replaced within its cylindrical storage cover.
*The same process can be used for conscious victims when other methods of recovery have failed but the Man-Overboard Rescue Sling would be the preferred method of recovery for a conscious, uninjured victim.
