Course Descriptions
At Dynamic Rescue, we provide you with practical, hands on training, along with classroom-based technical expertise. You will develop knowledge and techniques that will assist in resolving real incidents with experience and confidence. Click on the links below to see a list of all the courses that Dynamic Rescue offers, or scroll down to see which courses are currently open for public enrolment. We are able to deliver any of these courses specially for your organization or company - please contact our office for details.
All our programs meet or exceed WorkSafe BC and NFPA standards. Students are required to pass a written and a practical evaluation at each level. Dynamic Rescue can also provide ongoing maintenance training and yearly proficiency testing.

CONFINED SPACE COURSES
All courses that deal with Confined Space

CONFINED SPACE - Entrant
8 Hours, 1 Day $ 200.00
Prerequisites: None
This course provides the foundation skills for students who would like to move into the Confined Space world. It is a one day program with a combination of classroom and practical hands on applications.
The course includes:
- WorkSafeBC Standards
- Rescue site overview and safety
- Developing the ability to initiate and conduct non-entry confined space rescue
- Gaining insight into hazard identification, assessment and control for entry and rescue
- Learning to recognize the first responders' roles and responsibilities, given the limitations of standard confined space equipment
- Operation of mechanical retrieval systems
Students will be given a written, individual proficiency and team practical evaluation. Successful candidates will be certified to Confined Space Rescue Awareness. This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1006 and 1670 and is in conformance with CSA and WorkSafeBC Standards.
This course is eligible for EOCP continuing education unit credits in the following certificate types WD, WWC, WWT, SWWS and related for certificate types, WT, SWS

CONFINED SPACE - Entrant/Attendant (Non-IDLH)
16 Hours, 2 Days $ 350.00
Prerequisites: None
This course provides the foundation skills for students who would like to move into the Confined Space world. This is a two-day course with a combination of classroom and practical hands-on applications.
The course includes:
- N.F.P.A. Standards
- WorkSafeBC Standards
- Rescue site overview and safety
- Ropes (knots, bends and hitches)
- Equipment familiarization
- Simple anchoring and rigging systems
- Patient packaging
- Simple mechanical advantage systems
Participants will develop the ability to initiate and conduct non-entry Confined Space Rescue as well as entry rescue into a non-IDLH (immediately dangerous to life or health) environment. They will gain insight into hazard identification, assessment and control for entry and rescue. They will recognize the first responders' roles and responsibilities given the limitations of standard confined space equipment. Students will be given a written, individual proficiency and team practical evaluation. Successful candidates will be certified to Confined Space Rescue Awareness.
This course exceeds NFPA 1006 and 1670, and is in conformance with CSA and WorkSafeBC Standards.

FALL PROTECTION Level 1 - BASIC

This course provides an overview of the potential hazards associated with working at heights and precautions, which should be taken to prevent injuries associated with falls from heights. The program provides an overview of the types of fall protection devices that are available and their intended use. This program will meet the requirements of WorkSafeBC Part 11 Fall Protection and Part 32 Evacuation and Rescue.

RESPIRATORY SYSTEMS & SCBA

Prerequisites: None
This course provides the foundation skills for students who would like to utilize respiratory systems in their work place. Students will participate in classroom lectures as well as hands-on utilization of multiple respiratory systems including Air Purifying Systems, Supplied Air Systems and Self-Contained Breathing Air Systems. Each individual will be fit tested and checked for proficiency. Each candidate will become proficient in fit testing. Successful candidates will receive a certificate. This course is in conformance with CSA Z94.4 and WorkSafeBC Standards.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS-Hazmat Materials Awareness

Prerequisites: None
This hazmat awareness level course provides students with the skills to recognize and manage the beginning stages of any emergency hazmat incident that they could encounter in the course of their normal duties. The primary focus of this course is on recognition, identification, protection, and notification.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS Hazmat Operations (CORE)
24 Hours, 3 Days $ 700.00
Prerequisites: None
This hazardous materials operations level course provides a systematic approach for responders to a hazardous materials incident for the purpose of supporting or implementing protective actions. Students will have the skills and knowledge to conduct scene safety procedures, public protective actions, exposure protection, and defensive product control methods. The overall incident management elements of this course are effective in both fire department and industrial settings.
This course meets or exceeds:
NFPA 472 (CH 5, CH 6.2(PPE), CH 6.6 (Product Control)
Criteria for NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II - Hazmat Operations
The needs of fire service or industry for Hazmat Operations level response
This course is well suited to:
A fire service recruit training program
A fire department who is working towards a module based completion of NFPA 1001.
Industry employees that are expected to respond and if necessary confine product.
Successful completion of this course gives students NFPA 472 Hazmat Operations Certification.

HAZARDOUS MATERIALS Hazmat Operations (PLUS)
32 Hours, 4 Days $ 900.00
Prerequisites: None
This hazmat operations level course provides all of the same skills and knowledge as the Operations Core course, plus a large number of mission-specific competencies. Mission specific competencies are ones that allow operations level responders to take more specific action and increase the amount of support they can provide to hazardous materials technicians. The overall incident management elements of this course are effective in both fire department and industrial settings.
The following Mission Specific Competencies included in this course are Personal Protective Equipment, Technical Decontamination, Mass Decontamination, Product Control and Air Monitoring & Sampling.
The following Mission Specific Competencies have been left out of Operations Plus due to infrequent requests but can be implemented into a custom course to meet your needs: Evidence Preservation, Victim rescue and recovery and Illicit Labs.
This course meets or exceeds:

Exceeds criteria for NFPA 1001 Firefighter I & II Hazmat operations
This course is well suited to:
A fire service that is looking to implement or support a local response team with a defensive (operations) posture.
Industry employees that are expected to respond and confine product.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER Training

The DRS Extinguisher program is designed to train individuals to safely and effectively use fire extinguishers in an emergency. This two-hour course is suitable for people in industrial, institutional, or private business settings. The course is made up of two segments. The first is in-class where participants will learn about topics such as:
Classifications of Fire
The Science of Fire (what is it?)
Methods of extinguishment
Types of extinguishers
Maintenance of extinguishers
Fire attack planning
The second segment will be conducted outdoors where all participants will have the opportunity to extinguish a live fire.

CONFINED SPACE RESCUE - Operations
32 Hours, (8rhs x 4 Days) or 30 Hours (10hrs x 3 Days) - $ 700.00
Prerequisites: None
The operations level includes team-building working towards a systematic approach to Confined Space Rescue. Participants will gain the skills and knowledge to conduct rope based rescue operations in a variety of confined space environments. Rope based rescue systems will be utilized emphasizing the selection, construction, and proper use of these systems in the industrial environment. Students will gain practical experience in the use of communication systems, resource material, patient packaging devices, atmospheric monitoring equipment, air sampling strategies, and strategies/tactics for successful emergency entry operations. Students will operate as an integral part of a team environment and will be directed and monitored by instructors acting as team leaders. Students are given written, individual proficiency and practical evaluations. This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1006 and 1670 and is in conformance with CSA and WorkSafeBC Standards.

CONFINED SPACE RESCUE - Technician
32 Hours, (8rhs x 4 Days) or 30 Hours (10hrs x 3 Days) - $ 700.00
Prerequisites: Confined Space Level 1 - Operations
The technician level requires students to demonstrate skills, knowledge and techniques for hazard recognition, equipment use, and procedures necessary to safely and effectively coordinate, perform and supervise a technical rescue incident in a Confined Space. Advanced concepts will be employed in rescue strategies, site management, team leadership, hazard mitigation, equipment and resource management and, information gathering. Technical rescue pre-planning and rescue scene management and termination will be explored and developed by the end of this course. The course consists mainly of field instruction. Students are given a written, and individual proficiency and practical evaluations. This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1006 and 1670 and is in conformance with CSA and WorkSafeBC Standards.

ROPE RESCUE-Technical Low to Steep Angle Rope Rescue, Awareness/Operations
32 Hours, (8rhs x 4 Days) or 30 Hours (10hrs x 3 Days) - $ 700.00
Prerequisites: None
This course standardizes embankment rescue and provides the foundation skills for students who would like to move into the high angle operations and technician level courses. The course includes N.F.P.A. standards, rescue site overview & safety, ropes (knots, bends & hitches), equipment familiarization, anchoring and rigging systems, patient packaging, simple mechanical advantage systems and low to steep angle embankment rescue scenarios. The course consists of both classroom and field instruction. Students will be given a written, individual proficiency and team practical evaluation. Successful candidates will be certified to low to steep angle rope rescue. This course is in conformance with NFPA 1006 and 1670 and meets and exceeds all WorkSafeBC standards for Steep Slope Rescue.
Accreditation available for this program
**This course can be combined with the Operations Level program to accommodate industry based training. It would dispense with the steep slope portion of the awareness program. (not usually required for industry)

ROPE RESCUE-Technical High Angle Rope Rescue, Level 1 Operations

Prerequisites: Basic Rescuer or Low-To-Steep Angle Rescue
The operations level includes team-building roles and responsibilities, ascending and descending, pick offs & line transfers, patient packaging, multiple lowering & raising systems, compound mechanical advantage systems and team scenarios. Students will operate as an integral part of a team environment and will be directed and monitored by instructors acting as team leaders. Students are given written, individual proficiency and practical evaluations. This course is in conformance with NFPA 1006 and 1670 and meets and exceeds all WorkSafeBC standards for rescue at heights.
Accreditation available for this program
**This program can be combined with the Awareness program to meet the needs of industry. This would encompass a five-day Awareness/Operations for Industry.

Prerequisites: Rope Rescue Level 2 - Technician
The technician level requires students to demonstrate skills, knowledge and techniques for hazard recognition, equipment use, and procedures necessary to safely and effectively coordinate, perform and supervise a technical rescue incident in the high angle environment. The course consists mainly of field instruction and includes advanced anchoring systems, compound/complex mechanical advantage systems, advanced line transfers, knot-passing, high lines, litter attendants, attendant transition and a variety of technical scenarios. Students are given a written, individual proficiency and practical evaluations. This course is in conformance with NFPA 1006 and 1670 and meets and exceeds all WorkSafeBC standards for rescue at heightsThis hands-on course provides the student with the skills and knowledge to act as a rescuer at a site where a tower crane is in use. Students must have advanced skills prior to being accepted for this course. The course will cover tower crane components, specialized technical rescue systems and WorkSafeBC regulations on "LockOut". Training occurs mostly in the field and consists of a variety of scenarios upon which proficiency evaluations are based.
This course is in conformance with NFPA 1006 and 1670 and meets and exceeds all WorkSafeBC standards for rescue at heights. -

Technical High Angle Rope Rescue Program (THARRP)

Prerequisites: Rope Rescue Level 2 - Technician
The Technical High Angle Rope Rescue Program (THARRP) was established in 1991, in response to the stated needs of the construction industry.
THARRP assists participating fire departments in meeting WorkSafeBC requirements for the technical rescue function. Thirty-four industry classifications contribute to the funding of this Program through their WorkSafeBC assessments. The funding is then administered by the BCCSA to provide selected fire department representatives the training required in technical rescue so that they can train members of their departments.
The Technical High Angle Rope Rescue Program is offered under the guidance of the Technical High Angle Rope Rescue Steering Committee and consists of the following training: Awareness, Level I and Level II meeting applicable NFPA Standards, Tower Crane and Instructor Training.

TECHNICAL WATER RESCUE-Swift Water Awareness

Prerequisites: None
This course provides the foundation skills for students who would like to move into the Swift Water world. For personnel who operate along the shore of moving water environments classified as low risk and may enter the water under safe conditions, but not directly involved in the water rescue.

TECHNICAL WATER RESCUE-Swift Water Operations, Level 1

Prerequisites: None
The Operations level uses a team-building environment to develop a systematic approach to water rescue. Students gain the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct water-based rescue operations in a variety of water environments. This course is for personnel who operate and search in still or moving water environments, classified as low to medium risk, and are involved in a support function to a water/flood rescue technician or team. This course meets or exceeds NFPA 1006 and 1670 and is in conformance with CSA and WorkSafeBC Standards.

This course offers the ability to combine the skills needed to emerge with qualifications in Rope Rescue and Confined Space Rescue at the Technician Level. The Technician level requires students to demonstrate skills, knowledge and techniques in advanced concepts. Time will be spent on rescue strategies, site management, team leadership, hazard mitigation, equipment and resource management and, information gathering. Technical rescue pre-planning and rescue scene management and termination hazard recognition, equipment use, and procedures necessary to safely and effectively participate in a technical rescue incident in a Confined Space or at height. Students will expand the ability to use communication systems, resource material, patient packaging devices, atmospheric monitoring, air sampling strategies, and strategies/tactics for successful emergency entry operations. Students will operate as an integral part of a team environment and will be directed and monitored by instructors acting as team leaders. Students are given written, individual proficiency and practical evaluations. This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1006 and 1670 and is in conformance with CSA and WorkSafeBC Standards.

This course provides the foundation skills for students who would like to move into the Confined Space world. It is a one day program with a combination of classroom and practical hands on applications.

- Developing the ability to initiate and conduct non-entry confined space rescue
- Gaining insight into hazard identification, assessment and control for entry and rescue

Fall Protection - Level 1

This course provides an overview of the potential hazards associated with working at heights and precautions, which should be taken to prevent injuries associated with falls from heights. The program provides an overview of the types of fall protection devices that are available and their intended use. This program will meet the requirements of WorkSafeBC Part 11 Fall Protection and Part 32 Evacuation and Rescue.
